How long does each ceremony last?

The Michigan Engineering Graduate and Undergraduate ceremony each last 2 hours.

Are tickets required for graduates or guests?

Graduating students do not need a *ticket* to attend either ceremony. However, all other guests, including family members and children two years of age and older–must have a guest ticket in order to enter Crisler Center. Will the ceremonies be live-streamed?

Should I register or sign up to participate in the ceremony?

Graduates must apply for graduation from the university on the Student Business page of Wolverine Access. Students are required to RSVP online to attend their respective ceremony. Graduate students, please click here to register. Undergraduate students, please click here to register.

Is there a rehearsal?

There is not a rehearsal for either Michigan Engineering Graduation ceremony.

Is there a procession?

There is no graduate procession at either ceremony.  Graduates enter Crisler Center through the North Tunnel entrance and go directly to the main floor to their department’s seating area.  Department areas are marked with signs.

Do I receive individual recognition?

All participating graduates and candidates cross the stage and have their name read aloud during the ceremony. This is done using name cards which will be found on each chair along with a pencil. The card must be filled out and brought to the stage by each graduate.

Will my name appear in the printed program?

The previous Fall Term, Winter Term and the current year’s Summer Term graduates’ names are listed in the program distributed at the graduation exercises. If you turned in your diploma application form before the stated deadline, your name should appear in the College’s program. Graduation programs will not be mailed.

When will I receive my diploma?

Diplomas will be ordered after degrees are posted as awarded to academic records. Diplomas are mailed to the graduate’s permanent address or to the diploma address if one has been created by the student in Wolverine Access. Address updates can be entered on Wolverine Access up until the day degrees are posted.

There are several events in which I’m eligible to participate.  Which should I attend?

This is a personal decision. Attend the ceremony or ceremonies in which you receive recognition and/or enjoy celebrating this milestone occasion with your fellow graduates and family members.

Do I need academic attire?

Graduates are required wear academic attire at this ceremony.

Which side does my tassel go on?

Before graduating, the tassel should be on your right. After graduating, it should be moved to the left.
